WIP - Snowman & Reindeer

I know it doesn't look like I've made much progress on my cross stitching, but I'm working on it. With the holidays around the corner and working full time, there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to complete everything I'd like too. I have so many UFO's that need to be completed and I work on them off and on when time permits. I've been trying to catch up with Rae on a hand pieced 9-patch quilt top we started some months back. She got so far ahead of me, that I asked her to stop working on her's until I caught up with her! I'm almost there and now in the meantime, she's completed a few cross stitch items. When she gets something on her mind she wants to do, it's full steam ahead for her. Next year I'll have more time to devote to my crafts, as I will only be working part time. I'm looking forward to that, but for now I'll just doodle along, sooner or later something will be completed.

Sock It To Me Santa

The mail carrier delivered a package from Susan Marie yesterday! As you can see my "Socks" were filled with wonderful gifts. A Bookmark, a Cross Stitch pattern which contained the initial "R" (for Ruth) on it, and the needed floss and needles to complete the cross stitch. Thanks so much Susan Marie, once I get a few UFO's completed I'll get start on this project.

Snowman & Reindeer Cross Stitch Project

I finally decided on a Cross Stitch project. This is called Snowman & Raindeer, the Gold Collection from Dimensions. It took me forever to seperate all the floss. It was so hard to determine the color names given aganist the actual threads. I seperated and counted all the floss trying to match the legend, but it was still difficult, as many of the colors had the same number of strands. Unbelievable. I don't think they used DMC Floss, as no DMC numbers are given. I can't make any mistakes as I may not be able to match the floss. It's been years since I've cross stitched, but my nutty friend from California, Rae Ann, got me started again, because she wanted to learn how to cross stitch. I started stitch a couple of days ago, but I haven't gotten very far. I'll be posting my progress.

9 Patches

My friend Rae Ann and I have something in common, we both hand piece most of all we make. It's not that we don't have sewing mahcines, they just aren't very accessible for either of us for different reasons. I read on her Blog that she was making 9 Patches along with some other ladies from the Half Pint Quilt Along. I decided I didn't have enough to do already (Yeh right), so the other morning I took out my scraps of 30's fabrics and started cutting (Rae and I both love 30's fabrics). I didn't tell her what I was doing, until I called her yesterday evening. This is a picture of a few of the blocks I was able to hand piece together. I've joined the Half Pint Quilt Along, but I know I'll not finish my Lap Quilt in time for the Parade of Quilts (I just started), but it keeps Rae Ann and I busy and we have something to talk about when we call either other. We have miles and miles between us, she's on one coast and I'm on the other. Someday we're going to meet. Perhaps Lancaster, PA for the Quilt Show!!!

Halloween Table Runner

I am terrible when it comes to Blogging. I still haven't figured everything out, but I'm working on learning. Hopefully in the very near future I will be up to speed and Blogging everyday.

I have many, many project in various stages, but I did take some time and stitch up this Halloween Table Runner. This was given as a gift to my neighbor. My daughter loved it so much that I am now making another one, but it will be a bit longer.

Insanity Progress

Well here I am with my first project done by hand. I have been machine quilting for a few years and am still learning a lot.

As I was reading my e-mails a lot of people were talking about The Insanity Quilt, and I had to investigate. When I saw the picture I was overwhelmed and fell in love with it.Then I read 10,339 1/2 in. hexes, I said to myself no wonder they call it Insanity. Then I figured I was insane enough to do this, so here I am. INSANE lol.

I have 56 diamonds and 16 flowers done and I have cut 4000 of the white hexes for the background and I am loving every bit of it.

I have also made a great friend, her name is Rae Ann, she really has been my inspiration thru all this. We chat often on the phone and we have been exchanging fabrics back and fourth. The only sad thing is she lives in California and I am in New Jersey, but I know one day we will meet in person. We seem to have so much in common and like the same things.

Rae Ann has even helped me getting this blog going, computer smart I am not, but I am learning. I guess we are never to old to learn.

Will be posting more as I progress, hope you will enjoy. Till next post.
